Cable Car: A Gateway to Tourism and Development

The Chapeli-Majhakhanda Cable Car will be Nepal’s first Euro-standard certified cable car, transforming the scenic Majhakhanda region of Lalitpur into a premier tourist destination. By significantly reducing travel time from Chhapeli along the Kanti Highway to Majhakhanda, this cable car will offer visitors seamless access to the area’s breathtaking landscapes and cultural attractions. Additionally, it will play a crucial role in boosting the local economy, creating employment opportunities, and promoting rural tourism, while taking nature, culture, and adventure-based tourism to new heights.

Food and Accommodation

Three Star Hotel
Three-star hotel provides average amenities, higher quality service, physical attributes and design. our aim towards meeting guest expectations and providing pleasant stay. The hotel will have total of 60 rooms. It will be developed as a Three-Star Hotel, incorporating all required standards, services, and facilities as prescribed by the relevant authorities. The hotel will feature a training hall with a capacity of 40 people, equipped with necessary amenities. Additionally, the seminar hall has a seating capacity of 80 people. This means the venue is designed to accommodate 80 individuals comfortably during a seminar conference or event. The additional services will offer to guests: supply with food and drinks, parking spaces, swimming pools, recreational areas.

Restaurant
A fast food service will be provided for the guests, for which a dedicated restaurant will be established.

Home Stay
For guests seeking a different experience from the taste and ambiance of the hotel restaurant, homestays will be available in the village. To offer traditional village cuisine and a local living experience, the homestay program will be coordinated by Destination Majhkhanda.

Fun Park
A fun park is a modern entertainment center that provides a variety of games, electronic and mechanical rides, indoor and outdoor activities, food stalls, and resting areas for children, teenagers, youth, and family members. It offers a safe, enjoyable, and engaging recreational experience for all age groups. A similar fun park will also be available here.

Panorama Views
From here, a vast mountainous landscape can be captured all at once through the camera. After a short trek from Majhkhanda, one reaches Ramite. Since Ramite is the highest point in this region, it offers a rare vantage point where one can simultaneously capture views of the Himalayan range, the Kathmandu Valley, and the Terai plains. Ramite is a unique geographical location where such a panoramic view can be taken in a single frame.

Adventure-Activites

Majhakhanda–Ramite–Chamere Cave–Kaleshwor Hiking Trail
Ramite is Located at the convergence of Wards 5 (Ikudol), 6 (Ashrang), and 7 (Gimdi) of Bagmati Rural Municipality and Ward 1 of Mahankal Rural Municipality, this high-altitude point offers panoramic views of the Himalayas, the Kathmandu Valley, and the southern plains of Terai. It is approximately 5 km from Majhakhanda.

Chamere Cave
Chamere Cave is Situated in Ward 7 (Gimdi), this natural cave is home to thousands of bats and it is about 4 km from Ramite. It offers a unique and fascinating experience. 

Kaleshwor Temple
Located at the junction of Mahankal Rural Municipality Wards 3 (Gotikhel), 6 (Thuladurlung), and Bagmati Rural Municipality Ward 7 (Gimdi), this temple is believed to be the site where Sati Devi’s throat fell during Lord Shiva’s grief-stricken wanderings, making it a Shakti Peeth. It lies approximately 6 km from Ramite.

Jungle Safari
Nestled in the biologically rich Mahabharata Mountain Range, the safari combines hiking and nature exploration. The Majhakhanda–Ramite–Chamere Cave–Kaleshwor trail takes visitors through dense forests, green hills, and wildlife-filled habitats.

Visitors may encounter monkeys, deer, ghoral, wild boars, leopards, rabbits, bears, jungle cats, jackals, porcupines, and mongooses. Birdwatchers can spot pheasants, pigeons, cuckoos, mynas, partridges, sparrows, orioles, bats, owls, eagles, thrushes, flycatchers, parrots, and long-tailed birds. The flora includes rhododendron, oak, chestnut, walnut, lapsi, kafal, ainselu, chutro, muslindo, and more. Medicinal plants such as jatamasi, timur, pakhanbed, ghoratapre, chiraito, bojho, titepati, and triphala enhance the region’s biodiversity.

Religious site

Immerse yourself in the traditional rural lifestyle, local arts, religious and cultural diversity. Majhakhanda is a sacred land revered by both Hindu and Buddhist faiths.

Maharudreshwor Temple
According to ancient scriptures of the Himalayan region, Majhakhanda is considered a holy site where Sati Devi sacrificed her life at the Yagya site of Daksha Prajapati. In response, Lord Shiva took on his fierce form and wandered, carrying her body. The remnants of this legend are preserved in the form of sacred sites: Shiva-Sati’s Panchakrit natural rocks, Bhairavsthan, Devi than, Gaurikund, Rishikhal, and mystical caves.

Majhakhanda Monastery:
Over two decades old, this monastery offers Pariyatti education and regularly hosts religious programs in the Theravada Buddhist tradition. Pilgrims and practitioners from Thailand, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, and other countries visit for study and meditation.

Majhakhanda Gumba:
In collaboration with Shechen Monastery, a monastic school is proposed to promote and preserve the Nyingma tradition of Buddhism.
